On the other hand, condenser microphones require a power supply to work. This power supply is known as Phantom Power. The standard Phantom Power used for condenser mics is 48 Volts. Fortunately, most audio interfaces, preamps, and mixers can feed condenser microphones with Phantom Power. This will send 48V to the microphone through the XLR cable. This device will be connected between your condenser mic and audio interface or mixer. It will feed phantom power to the microphone, receive the audio signal from the mic, and then send it to the audio interface or mixer.
Simple as that. It comes with an adapter and an XLR cable. Microphones, regardless of the type, deliver a very low-level audio signal. The audio signal from microphones in itself is not audible. For this reason, audio signals from mics have to be amplified.
This is the reason why preamps were made. When processed through a preamp, weak microphone level signals increase the gain voltage of the signal so that it becomes loud enough for further processing.
Although there are standalone preamps, most audio interfaces and mixers have a preamp built into them. If you can see a gain knob on your mixer or interface, then there is a preamp built into it. The gain refers to the amount or level to which the audio signal is boosted. When the gain on your preamp, audio interface, or mixer is too low, the condenser mic will be quiet.

If you don't see it, then you need to try to pair it with your computer again. If you've followed the previous few steps, and you've found that you still sound quiet, then the issue could be with the microphone itself, if it's connected to a headset, for example. There's a mic volume control on many headphones or headsets.
This usually can be found on one of the earcups. This volume is independent of the microphone volume that's on your computer, for example. So, even if you've turned it up on Windows 10, it will still sound quiet, unless you turn the independent mic volume control up higher on your headset.
Have a look at your headset and see if this is the problem. You should also make sure to check that there isn't a microphone mute button on your headset.
If there is, try pressing this button, as you may have accidentally muted your microphone. If you're not using your microphone on a computer, then you need to check the settings on your console to see if your headset or microphone input device hasn't been turned down here accidentally too.
To do this on a Playstation 4, it's quite simple. You need to make sure that your microphone is hooked up to your Playstation first.
Then you just need to head over to the Devices menu. You'll want to select the Audio Devices from this list. You should see the name of your device if your headset is paired. You'll see an option for 'Adjust Microphone Volume. Then you may sound louder when you speak through your mic while gaming on your PS4. This is available on Windows If you've tried everything so far, and your mic is still too quiet, then using the microphone booster could be a good option. To do this, open the Windows Control Panel.
You can simply type 'Control Panel' into the Windows 10 search box to do this. Next, once you've opened the Control Panel, you want to select 'Hardware and Sound. If none of these ways work, you need to replace the mic with a better product with much better sound quality and loudness. You can start by making sure all connectors are properly connected and inserted correctly in the slots provided for it.
If you have a mic that needs the power to boost the sound, make sure that it is connected to the correct power supply. It may be a USB power cable, or it might need to be plugged into a wall electrical outlet for power. Ensure the master volume on your PC is set to the maximum by left-clicking on the sound icon on the toolbar. If the volume is set to the maximum, check the master volume in the app you are using. If you are using Skype, go to the general settings menu, select and mark the Automatically set microphone settings box.
This will allow the app to configure and reset the mic to its best performance ambiance when detecting a problem. Another way to adjust the master volume is to do it in the operating system settings you are currently using. Check out my guide to fixing a mic that sounds staticy.
